Social Dutch 2 – En Nu Nederlands

Cursus “Social Dutch 2” gericht op het leren spreken van Nederlands voor anderstaligen die in of rond Arnhem wonen. De cursus focust op alledaagse communicatie en het aanleren van basiskennis over de Nederlandse cultuur.

Are you from abroad and live in or around Arnhem and would you like to learn to speak Dutch with your neighbors, colleagues or fellow students, or have a simple conversation with your partner’s family? Would you also like to learn something about what exactly is typically Dutch? Then our Social Dutch courses are really something for you. The most important thing about these courses is to learn to communicate in Dutch in simple, everyday situations.
After this course you will be able to:
– Ask for directions
– Understanding directions
– Describe your own route
– Request information about public transport
– Read a short piece of text about the Netherlands
– Tell what you are wearing and what kind of clothes someone is wearing
– Describe what someone looks like
– What to say if you want to exchange clothes
– Complimenting someone on their appearance
– Make an appointment to go out
– Say what you like/dislike
– Ask what someone likes to do
– Order something in a restaurant
– Invite someone and respond to an invitation
– Understanding information about an attraction
– Give a presentation about your favorite music
– Perform a role play together with another student
– Write a little note

After this course you will know:
– The provinces, cities and the cardinal directions
– the words of traffic and transportation
– the words the clothes
– the words associated with eating out and going out

Grammar is secondary to communication skills and vocabulary. During the course we discuss the main sentence with inversion, the modal auxiliary verbs, the comparative and the superlative, the place of not in the sentence, and we start with the past tense. The course also focuses on the pronunciation of Dutch and interesting aspects of Dutch culture.
If you have attended 80% of the time and have done all the homework, you can proceed to Social Dutch 3 after Social Dutch 2. You can also take a test to see whether you have reached level A1.

The courses are on Tuesday and start on June 23rd 2026.
We align with Arnhem’s school holidays and Rozet’s evening opening hours.
